Emissions Control
Longview will employ emission control systems that meet or exceed rigorous "Best Available Control Technologies" ("BACT") performance standards. These controls include:
- Low-NOx burners
- Selective catalytic reduction ("SCR") for NOx reduction
- Dry sorbent injection for acid mist removal
- Fabric filter baghouse for particulates removal
- Wet fluidized gas desulfurization ("FGD") scrubber for SO2 removal
- These combined controls also will provide for significant removal of mercury.
Longview's rigorous air permit requires the plant to routinely achieve 98% SO2 removal efficiency, and over 99% particulate removal efficiency. Plant throughput and stack emissions will be closely monitored through an extensive series of continuous emission monitors, fuel analyses, stack tests, and inspections for visible emissions.
