GenPower Completes Project Finanacing for Advanced Water System

May 20, 2009 – Newton, MA. - GenPower Holdings L.P. has completed the $130-million project construction financing of the Dunkard Creek Water Treatment System, located in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Using proven clarification, filtration, and reverse osmosis technologies, the new system will supply cooling and service water to GenPower’s 695 (net) MW Longview Power project in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Both the water treatment and power generation facilities are expected to begin full commercial operations in 2010. WestLB, New York Branch, served as lead arranger for the financing.

The Dunkard Creek and Longview Power projects have executed a 30-year Water Supply Agreement (WSA) that assures uninterrupted delivery of treated water for the power station. In addition, under the WSA, Longview Power’s small amount of discharge water will be treated safely at the project’s affiliated AMD Reclamation, Inc. (AMDRI) site, also located in Greene County, Pennsylvania. A not-for-profit endeavor, AMDRI was formed by GenPower in 2003 to safely and environmentally de-water abandoned local coal mines, which threatened to pollute Dunkard Creek, while adding jobs and revitalizing coal mining in the area.

The Dunkard Creek LLC closing marks another milestone for GenPower, which has successfully developed over $5 billion in clean power generation assets with a veteran team of experts focused on bringing cost effective, environmentally progressive, and sustainable energy solutions to communities, governments, and investors. GenPower Chief Executive Officer Bob Place noted, “We’re very pleased to expand our investment in the integrated environmental value chain of clean water, clean coal, and clean power technologies and practices that these projects represent in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. GenPower looks forward to applying our expertise and experience in developing additional opportunities in this region and other parts of the country in clean power and renewable energy.”
