New Longview Power Website Showcases Commitment to Environment and Community

MORGANTOWN, W.V., January 12, 2010 – Longview Power, a state-of-the-art power generation facility currently under construction near Morgantown, West Virginia, today launched www.longviewpower.com. At $2 billion – the largest private investment in state history – the Longview project includes $500 million dedicated to sophisticated environmental control systems.  These systems are profiled on the website along with the project’s innovative energy technology, superior emission control capabilities, and wide ranging community benefits. Longview Power helps its host communities through direct financial support and employee involvement in organizations with programs to enhance the community or environment. Longview’s purchase of coal from mines in the region will increase regional employment by over 500 jobs. Construction of the plant began in 2007, with completion expected in early 2011.

“The cornerstone of our corporate citizenship is our commitment to the environment and neighboring communities in responsibly developing, constructing, and operating this project,” said Charles Huguenard, vice president and general manager of Longview Power. “Longview is engineered to be one of the most fuel efficient plants in the U.S. and will employ a variety of highly advanced technologies to control emissions and reduce environmental impacts in the region.”

When complete, Longview will be one of the cleanest, most efficient, and most technically advanced coal-fired power plants in the United States. Coupled with its commitment to its best-in-class environmental performance, Longview's advanced supercritical pulverized coal (SCPC) technology and additional project efficiencies will result in the lowest cost of electric power production, making it the most efficient coal plant in the 13-state PJM electrical interconnection region. PJM is a regional transmission organization that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of 13 states, including West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Longview Power further will provide an Environmental Mitigation Fund to support carbon dioxide reduction and sequestration goals, as well as stream enhancement programs in the region. Longview will support ongoing research and partner with West Virginia University and others to seek sustainable solutions to air, water, and land use issues.

The Longview Power plant is owned by Longview Power, LLC, which is in turn majority-owned by GenPower Holdings, L.P.
